Thomas received his International Master’s in Business with a concentration in Finance at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, graduating at the top of his class. He started his finance career in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, working in the finance department of BNP Paribas Asset Management handling rotating finance responsibilities in the wake of two consecutive mergers and acquisitions caused by the 2008 financial collapse.
With a growing family he returned to Wilmington, NC to join the family business bookkeeping firm, taking up the position of CFO. During his tenure at Bruin & Associates he managed the clean-up, maintenance, and management of books of over 100 business clients. He was never afraid to roll up his sleeves and get down into the gritty resolution of messy books and spreadsheets.
In 2017 he was invited to become the Director or Finance and Corporate Controller of a fast-growing tech company in California. After seeing the tech company 10x and overseeing many of the facets of the finance functions from initial set up to Series A to venture capital due diligence, he has an opportunity to return to his roots of helping small business owners.
In 2019, Thomas founded Transcend Bookkeeping & Finance.
Thomas has a passion for helping entrepreneurs find a pathway to success through clear financial information and for sharing his knowledge to enrich his team and the community.
In his free time, he enjoys yoga, running, meditation, reading, travel and spending time with his family.
